1.6 FSI "BAG" Engine [e.g. Golf, Touran, A3]

The 1.6 FSI is a petrol engine built by the Volkswagen Group. The engine code BAG is Volkswagen’s designation for this particular unit. It was introduced in 2003 in the Volkswagen Golf Mk5 and has since been used in many other Volkswagen Group vehicles.

The engine has a displacement of 1.6 litres and produces 115–116 hp, depending on the vehicle model. It features direct fuel injection and runs on petrol. Direct injection improves fuel economy and reduces emissions.

The advantages of the 1.6 FSI engine include its efficiency and durability. It also runs relatively quietly and delivers solid performance. Service intervals are reasonable, making it an economical engine to run.

Volkswagen has fitted the 1.6 FSI engine in a wide range of models, including the Volkswagen Golf, Volkswagen Jetta, Volkswagen Touran, Volkswagen Passat, SEAT Leon and SEAT Toledo. The Skoda Octavia has also been offered with this engine.
