The 1.7 CDTi (engine code: A17DTR) is a turbodiesel engine that has been in production since 2004. It was developed jointly by General Motors and the Italian engine manufacturer Fiat Powertrain Technologies. The engine is built in Hungary, at the Szentgotthárd plant.
The 1.7 CDTi has four cylinders, 16 valves and a common-rail fuel injection system. Its maximum output is 81 kW (110 hp), with peak torque of 280 Nm. The main goals in its development were performance, fuel economy and low emissions.
The engine meets Euro 4 emission standards and is fitted with a particulate filter. Particular attention was paid during development to reducing noise and vibration, keeping ride comfort at a high level.
